| ①,Studs according to this standard are used for screwing into light metals (including aluminum). Studs with metric threads (MFS) are not suitable for screwing into steel or cast iron. The tight fit thread (MFS) according to DIN 8141-1 applies to both thread ends.
A distinction is made between two types of studs with an MFS interference fit thread:
- Form A with screw-in length ≈ 2 d for property classes 5.6 and 8.8 (see DIN 949-1)
- Form B with screw-in length ≈ 2.5 d for strength class 10.9 (see DIN 949-2)
