| ①,The length of thread on the nut end of the stud shall not include the run-out threads and shall be equal to twice the nominal diameter of the thread, except in the case of short studs where this would result in a length of plain portion less than 1/ 2 D. In such cases a length of plain portion equal to 1/ 2 D should be allowed for before threading the remainder for the nut end. ②,Metal end (b1): i) The length of the thread on the metal end of the stud shall include the run-out threads and shall be equal to the nominal diameter of the thread or to one and a half times the nominal diameter of the thread, as specified by the purchaser. ii) The length of thread run-out shall be not less than 2 pitches or more than 2-1/2 pitches. iii) The tolerance on the length of the thread shall be plus or minus 1/32 in., or plus or minus half a pitch, whichever is the greater. ③,Ends of studs: a) Metal end: The metal end of the stud shall be finished with a flat chamfer with a 90° included angle to a depth slightly exceeding the depth of thread. b) Nut end: The nut end of the stud (except studs with Unified threads) shall be finished with a radius approximately equal to 11/ 4 times the nominal diameter. Unified threads shall have a shallow dog point machined on the nut end. |
